MHC 1’s Vs. Ashton 5/10/19

Match report:

UCC ran out comfortable winners in the end of their second Munster league games, securing a 3-0 win against fellow city neighbors Ashton. A bright start for college was rewarded with a series of penalty corners which led to Simon Dring opening the scoring in the 6th minute, ripping a drag flick into the roof of the net. Ashton regrouped well however and started stringent passes together and putting pressure on the UCC back line, however a fine performance from Sam Lilburn and Tristan Walsh in center back weathered the Ashton storm. UCC extended their lead mid way through the second quarter, Stephen Jermyn finishing off a fine run with a lovely finish into the bottom corner. The game simmered down after the frenzy of the opening half with Ashton defending well and UCC having the majority of possession. UCC then added a third late into the third quarter with a well worked penalty corner finished off smartly by Barry Cronin. Ashton rallied late in the fourth quarter but the pressure was well dealt with by Conor Beck in goals and his defense to keep a clean sheet and secure the 3 points.

Final Score: UCC 3 v Ashton 0.
