IHL Weekend Preview

It is going to be another busy week of hockey for both UCC MHC and LHC with the return of the Irish Hockey League (IHL).  Both Men’s and Ladies first teams will travel to Dublin this Saturday to take on Pembroke and Hermes respectively (Both games 2pm). The ladies go in search of another win after beating Ballymoney 2-0 in the Mardyke in the last round of the Electric Ireland IHL.  As the Men go in search of their first ever win in the competition.

The theme of travel continues with a trio of Men’s team heading to Limerick on Sunday.  The 2nds get the day off to a start taking on Limerick B in Villiers School at 10:00 and that will be followed by the 4ths first game of the year at the same venue at 12:00. The 3rds have an afternoon hit off as they face Catholic Institute B in Rosbrien at 15:30.

The ladies also have a full card of fixtures which continues with the 3rds meeting Belvedere on sunday morning in the Mardyke. This game will be followed by the 4ths taking on mid table Midleton as they search for their first league win of the season. The 2nds will be on the road to Limerick as well as the play Catholic Institute in Rosbrien at 12:00. A win there will see them go only 2 points behind league leaders Bandon.

It’s the first time this season that all 8 teams from the hockey clubs will be playing in one weekend so best of luck to all.
